Heimdal brings the Rungard platform into a dedicated device made for everyday use. Applications, storage, backups, system health, and remote access are managed through one consistent experience without hiding where your services and data actually live.

The compact enclosure is intended to sit quietly alongside a router or on a desk. Heimdal balances useful performance with approachable management, making it a practical starting point for self-hosting without requiring a rack or a collection of separate machines.
Local control with secure remote access
Core management remains available through Heimdal's local dashboard, including when the wider internet is unavailable. When remote access is enabled, Rungard uses WireGuard to provide an encrypted path back to the services running on your own device.
A guided start
Setup guides the owner through connecting Heimdal, creating local credentials, selecting a network, and linking the device to a Rungard account. Local ownership, the cloud account, and the physical device remain separate so each has a clear role.
Once setup is complete, applications and device controls are available from the local dashboard, while the cloud workspace gives the owner an overview when away from home.
